A Breakdown Of What Is Happening At DraftKings And FanDuel For Super Bowl LIII This Sunday

FanDuel and DraftKings SuperBowl contests types

It’s finally Super Bowl Week! After a wild year that gave us the highest-scoring season to date, here we are at the end of the road. The pre-season favorite, New England, has returned to the Super Bowl again and they’ll be facing the young and talented Los Angeles Rams. Following the most controversial postseason to date, the Fantasy Football season is long in the books.

Lucky for the DFS players out there, daily fantasy sports is flexible and DraftKings and FanDuel are back for one more week of daily fantasy football, offering players some creative contests for the big game.

Super Bowl contest types

FanDuel Single Game – In this FanDuel game format, you’ll begin with a $60,000 salary. Overall, you’ll have five slots for players. You will have the choice of one “MVP” pick in your roster as well. The MVP slot will multiply your score by 1.5 points so your MVP pick is a slot reserved for the player you think will score the most points in the game. From there, you’ll have four more flex slots by which to fill-out your remaining roster. This format is standard for most contest types this week, as is the standard scoring format of half-point per reception.

FanDuel will be offering the following game types for its Single Game contests: tournaments, Beat the Score, multipliers, head to head, leagues and 50/50s. This weekend’s premier contest will be the $9.99 buy-in $2.53 million guaranteed NFL Big Game Bowl with $1 million going to first.

DraftKings Showdown Captain Mode – Similar to the FanDuel rosters, except you’ll have one MVP slot and five flex slots. In DraftKings Showdown Captain Mode contests, you’ll begin with a $50,000 salary and remember, scoring is full-point per reception. Also, the MVP slot not only multiplies the points for that player, it multiplies the salary against your salary cap as well.

DraftKings will feature the following contests types for Showdown Captain Mode: tournaments, multipliers, head to head, leagues and 50/50s. The premier DraftKings tournament on Sunday will be the $10 buy-in NFL $3M Championship Millionaire with $1 million going to first place.

Both FanDuel and DraftKings are offering contests this week for the second half of the Super Bowl as well. DraftKings has “In-Game Showdowns”, which feature contests consisting of the second-half performances only. FanDuel has both second-half contests and fourth-quarter, for those who really want to escalate the excitement late.

Super Bowl free promotions

Since the Super Bowl is the culmination of the NFL season, it’s no surprise that DraftKings and FanDuel are stepping up to offer some interesting promotions for the big game.

FanDuel

Big Game Bingo – FanDuel is offering Big Game Bingo for free to all players where $25,000 in prizes will be awarded. All FanDuel players who play receive a Bingo Game board, which will be comprised of a mix of Super Bowl and pop culture props with a free spot in the center. The first 25 players to hit five squares in a row will split the $25,000 prize pool. Any other FanDuel users who get bingo during the game will receive 1,000 free FanDuel Points.

DraftKings

DraftKings isn’t offering much in the way of DFS promotions this Sunday apart from the continuation of The Cuervo Big Game Drive Free Contests Series. This week, DraftKings will hold a $3,000 freeroll associated with the series where the top 600 players will receive prizes.

The remaining Super Bowl promotions will be available to DraftKings Sportsbook users, some of which are available to all DraftKings users.

Over the past year, DraftKings launched a new sportsbook, which offers players a variety of ways to wager on this weekend’s game. Bet on the spread, totals, props, live in-game betting and much more. Unfortunately, real money wagering on the DraftKings sportsbook is only available in New Jersey for Super Bowl LIII.

Have no fear, non-New Jersey DraftKings users. Football fans can still play Special Edition Squares and Big Game Prop Pools for free with a chance to win real money prizes. Players can play these games regardless of their location. DraftKings users can access these games from the “NFL $3 Million Hub” via the DraftKings DFS promotions tab.
