With the NFL season about to start, many daily fantasy sports sites are trying to get the attention of fans before the season starts. Some DFS sites are impressing with huge guarantees in Week 1.
FantasyDraft is going things a bit differently — with a large preseason freeroll. With a $50,000 prize pool three weeks before the season starts, the event is turning some heads.
FantasyDraft is capping the event at 10,000 entries, making the value of the tournament at least $5 for those that can get in before the With only 694 players registered for the freeroll, and only three days before the August 22nd 7 PM deadline, we’re guessing that players can likely expect an even larger overlay.
FantasyDraft Freeroll – $50,000 in FantasyCash
In the $50,000 freeroll contest, FantasyDraft participants select nine players for their daily roster: a quarterback, two runningbacks, two wide receivers, a tight end, two flex positions and a team defense. Participants will need to stay under a $100,000 salary cap when making selections.
The prize pool will be comprised of FantasyCash, which players can use in its daily fantasy sports contests. First place in the $50,000 freeroll will receive $5,000 and the top 2500 players in the contest will receive a prize.
The $50,000 contest will be comprised of a total of 11 games on Saturday and Sunday, with the first contests starting with the Dolphins/Panthers at 7 PM ET on Saturday and ending with Cowboys vs the 49ers and Rams vs the Titans at 8 PM ET on Sunday.
The contest can be found in the lobby under All Sports, All Types. It will be labeled as $50,000 #PlayersFirst Freeroll [FantasyCash] (Sat-Sun). You can, of course, also find this contest and other NFL contests by going to the NFL tab.
More Overlays to be Found?
Even though many fans have NFL fever all year, for many of the more casual fans they’re thinking of getting back to school or squeezing in their last-minute summer vacation. This presents an interesting opportunity on daily fantasy sports sites over the next couple weeks, especially at FantasyDraft, which is aggressively trying to attract new players.
For this reason, be sure to take a look at the guaranteed tournaments at FantasyDraft over the next few days for potential overlays. They very well could fall short due to a lack of people paying attention — or FantasyDraft just showing some extra generosity to garner additional interest in their website.
FantasyDraft currently has six guaranteed tournaments we think you should keep an eye on:
NFL – $3 League (Thursday-Friday), $1,500 Guaranteed, 36 entries so far
NFL – $5 League (Thursday-Friday), $1,500 Guaranteed, 21 entries so far
NFL – $1 League (Thursday-Friday), $1,000 Guaranteed, 71 entries so far
NFL – $3 League (Saturday-Sunday), $1,500 Guaranteed, 32 entries so far
NFL – $5 League (Saturday-Sunday), $1,500 Guaranteed, 20 entries so far
NFL – $1 League (Saturday-Sunday), $1,000 Guaranteed, 47 entries so far
Overlays essentially give you free value when you enter a tournament and are an excellent way to stretch your tournament dollars.
Who is FantasyDraft?
Launched in the middle of last year’s NFL season, FantasyDraft is one of the newest daily fantasy sports sites. They launched with the endorsement of some of sport’s top names including Drew Brees and Kevin Love. The DFS site currently offers NFL and MLB contests as well as support for NBA, NHL and the PGA to be offered at a later date.
The site features a clean, minimalist design that is easy for players to navigate. Below is a screenshot of the Fantasy Draft lobby.
Despite a lack of huge guaranteed tournaments thus far, the $50,000 Preseason freeroll this weekend seems to indicate that FantasyDraft is getting serious about attracting players before this NFL season.
Players can get started with a Double Down sign-up bonus which FantasyDraft matches up to $600.
