What Has Changed From Last Season?

There are no scoring changes for either site from last year. This is something we haven’t seen in awhile so there appears to be some consensus on the way scoring should be done — at least for NBA. Although there are relatively minor differences in how the sites tabulate scoring, there are some significant differences in how lineups are constructed, which you can see in the chart above. This has carried over from last year.

Perhaps the biggest change from last year is that late swaps have been eliminated at DraftKings. The move has been controversial but brings the site more in line with other DFS sites including FanDuel. We would imagine some of the outrage will calm down over time.

Another big difference is that the sites have chosen to switch up their initial sign-up offers. Both sites now officially offer free contest entries when making a first deposit, although you may want to double-check your offer at DraftKings.

Since last season, the DraftKings VIP program has also expanded quite a bit, bundling promotions such as Free Contest Arcade and Flash Bonus Blitz and additional VIP freerolls. FanDuel remains relatively stingy with their rewards, primarily FPP exchanges as well as monthly freerolls.

Should you play DraftKings or FanDuel NBA Contests?

The ultimate question for DraftKings and FanDuel players is what is the best site to play daily fantasy basketball?

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either site for your daily fantasy NBA play this season. Last year it looked like DraftKings might break away as the #1 daily fantasy sports site. But FanDuel has proven not to go quietly into the night and have rebounded to be almost neck and neck with DraftKings.

This narrowing of the two two sites is evidenced by the fact that both sites are offering a $1 million guaranteed prize pool during opening night. It looks as though the battle will continue throughout the season. This is only a good thing for players. The best bet is to have have accounts at both sites this season ready to go.
