Putting aside the attention grabbing prize pools of Week 1, the major guaranteed prize pool tournaments of daily fantasy sports had largely stabilized. That is until last week, when player activity finally caught up to some of the headlines the industry has received over the last couple weeks.
So how are DFS sites responding to the traffic decline of last week?
DFS Site Response to Week 6
At the largest sites, we are seeing GPP guarantees of the top tournaments decrease since Week 4. DraftKings has decrease their major prize pool decrease from $7 million in Week 4 to $6 million this week, while FanDuel’s top GPP has went from $6 million to $4 million in the same time period — a 33% decline.
The largest decline from the major sites comes from number three ranked Yahoo, whose major GPP is down to $650,000 this week, after having one of the largest overlays in the previous week.
The major GPPs from the smaller sites have been largely unaffected with Star Fantasy Leagues and StarsDraft being the two exceptions due to their recent state departures. Star Fantasy Draft only accepts players from roughly half of the United States whereas StarsDraft only accepts four and does not currently have contests posted for Week 7.
All other sites have seen their guaranteed prize pools at their largest tournaments either stay the same or increase a bit. Notably, DraftOps has even seen a large increase with Week 7 guarantee of $125,000 — some 2.5x what we recorded during Week 4.

Watch Week 7 for Overlays
During Week 6, SuperLobby recorded more overlays than they did during the previous week, bucking the trend of fewer overlays in prior weeks and a sign that some DFS sites may have been caught off guard.
Week 7 could be interesting as it will help determine whether the decline that was seen during Week 6 was just a bump in the road or a sign of a larger trend that some players are being influenced by current headlines.
Be sure to monitor SuperLobby before the games start on Sunday and be ready to jump on overlays that may come up.
