Let’s take a look at XFL DraftKings contests and what you need to know about participating in them.

XFL contest styles

DraftKings currently has three distinct forms of XFL contests available at the daily fantasy sports site: XFL Classic, XFL Showdown and XFL Captain.

Classic contests are always available at DraftKings while Showdown and Captain contests have limited availability.

XFL Classic – As the name would suggest, Classic is the game style closest to the traditional form of daily fantasy football. When joining one of these contests, you must select 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WRs, 1 team defense and 2 Flex that can be either a running back or wide receiver. Your goal is to select the best lineup you can while staying under the $50,000 salary cap.

XFL Showdown/Captain – Unlike the classic form of DFS, which allows you to pick players from a variety of games, XFL Showdown contests are limited to a single game. Due to the relative lack of lineup choices, the scoring is slightly different.

The biggest difference that as part of the lineup selection process, you will need to select a “Captain” that will earn 1.5x the standard rate of fantasy points. Selecting a player as a captain will also increase the price to put that player on your team. In total, you will need to fill up six lineup spots, a Captain (QB, WR, RB, TE, K, DST) and five Flex positions, which can also be a QB, WR, RB, TE, K or Team Defense.

Within each contest style, DraftKings offers a relatively standard selection of contest types: tournaments, heads to head, double-ups, multipliers and satellites/qualifiers.

You can also filter out DraftKings XFL contests by “Casual” contests. These games are not available to users who have earned an experience badge prior to contest entry.

DraftKings XFL scoring

Regardless of the contest type you are playing, scoring is more of less uniform with a couple of exceptions.

In DraftKings XFL Showdown and Captain contests, players can select kickers, which earn 3 points per field goal. Also, in each type of contest, you select a Captain position, which earns 1.5 the normal rate of points in both offensive and defensive categories.|
